Masterclasses by Robert Baker

Masterclasses are aimed at those already playing bridge at club level, or social players aspiring to join the community of duplicate players.

Robert gave community courses at The University of Bath for about 10 years. Since 2007 he has given Masterclasses for Bath Bridge School. Over this period many bridge players have benefited from his teaching. The local bridge clubs are undoubtedly stronger as a result of his courses and masterclasses.

All of his presentations start with a carefully prepared presentation using Power Point, and include handouts and prepared hands. The excellence of his teaching material is such that many of the the Masterclasses first given for Bath Bridge School are now approved by the EBU, and offered to other bridge teachers, or for individual study. A partial listing is given below.

Due to his chess teaching commitments at local schools future Masterclasses will be offered in the evenings. However rather than offer a series of single topics we intend to offer a number of themes which cannot be covered in a single session.

Masterclasses conform to the classic formulae for bridge teaching: a structured presentation followed by supervised play of relevant hands. The presentation will include the use of Power Point slides to help clarify the concepts involved. Additionally Robert is always happy to discuss any tricky issues that you have recently encountered at the bridge table.

Before committing to dates and themes we would like to get more feedback on what you would like. An email based survey is being planned. If you would like to be included please ask to be included. See below.
