Doubles. Part 1
Double is the most flexible bid there is. If you are not convinced then take a look at a fully populated bidding box; there will be many doubles.
In this tutorial we will revise the basic takeout double and when to use it, including important variations when:
- Doubler is a passed hand
- The opponents have bid two suits
- You are in the balancing/pass out seat
- RHO responded 1NT
- RHO made a transfer bid
There will also be guidance on when a double is for penalty, or is made with the intention of asking partner to lead a particular suit.
